Hi! I’m Esther,

I started this blog to help motivate me in my writing, and specifically the writing of a story I've had in the works for a couple of years now and am ready to finally put to paper.

Poppy's Bakery is a coming of age story about an 18-year-old in a tiny tourist town in coastal Maine. Shortly after the loss of her Grandpa, Nunie Moon's finds out that her family plans to sell his bakery, the place where she spent her cherished childhood. Desperate to hold on to the last memories of her past, Nunie and her best friends renovate the bakery, hoping to make it tough competition with the new and successful ice-cream parlor that just opened across the street.

While doing everything she can to preserve the past, Nunie is forced to answer hard questions about her own future and what is most important to her. Is she truly destined to stay in her home town forever or is it time for her to move on and pursue bigger dreams? Should she pursue a love that's wild and magical, or is there something even more magical hiding in a friendship that feels mundane and everyday? And in the end, is the bakery really Poppy's or hers?

Exploring themes of loyalty, jealousy, grief and accepting the hard but priceless beauty of reality, Poppy's Bakery is all about what it feels like to be a child-at-heart on the brink of adulthood.

I plan to post a chapter every Monday! *fingers crossed*

I may also share some deep thoughts and musings of mine on here, but we'll see about that! And maybe I'll even break out some of the stories I wrote in high school. But for now, enjoy Poppy's Bakery.
